Scale-Splitting Error in Complex Automata Models for Reaction-Diffusion Systems

چکیده
Complex Automata (CxA) have been recently proposed as a paradigm for the simulation of multiscale systems. A CxA model is constructed decomposing a multiscale process into single scale sub-models, each simulated using a Cellular Automata algorithm, interacting across the scales via appropriate coupling templates. Focusing on a reactiondiffusion system, we introduce a mathematical framework for CxA modeling. We aim at the identification of error sources in the modeling stages, investigating in particular how the errors depend upon scale separation. Theoretical error estimates will be presented and numerically validated on a simple benchmark, based on a periodic reaction-diffusion problem solved via multistep lattice Boltzmann method.

Cellular Automata Simulation of a Bistable Reaction-Diffusion System: Microscopic and Macroscopic Approaches
The Cellular Automata method has been used to simulate the pattern formation of the Schlögl model as a bistable Reaction-Diffusion System. Both microscopic and macroscopic Cellular Automata approaches have been considered and two different methods for obtaining the probabilities in the microscopic approach have been mentioned. The results show the tendency of the system towards the more sta...
متن کاملPattern Formation of the FitzHugh-Nagumo Model: Cellular Automata Approach
FitzHugh-Nagumo (FHN) model is a famous Reaction-Diffusion System which first introduced for the conduction of electrical impulses along a nerve fiber. This model is also considered as an abstract model for pattern formation. Here, we have used the Cellular Automata method to simulate the pattern formation of the FHN model. It is shown that the pattern of this model is very similar to those...
متن کاملA Filtering technique for System of Reaction Diffusion equations
We present here a fast parallel solver designed for a system of reaction convection diffusion equations. Typical applications are large scale computing of air quality models or numerical simulation of population models where several colonies compete. Reaction-Diffusion systems can be integrated in time by point-wise Newton iteration when all space dependent terms are explicit in the time integr...

This paper deals with the numerical solution of a class of reaction diffusion equations arises from ecological phenomena. When two species are introduced into unoccupied habitat, they can spread across the environment as two travelling waves with the wave of the faster reproducer moving ahead of the slower. The mathematical modelling of invasions of species in more complex settings that include ...
متن کاملEfficient and accurate splitting methods for time integration of multi-physics systems
Coupled multi-physics systems dominate computational models of advanced science and engineering applications. These systems give rise to challenges not typically faced by single-physics models: including interacting stiff and nonstiff processes, disparate time scales, increased nonlinearity and large data requirements. Historically, opposite approaches have been pursued by theoreticians and pra...
